    Guinea and Rwanda awarded wild cards for FIBA AfroBasket 2017

    ABIDJAN, Cote d'Ivoire (FIBA AfroBasket 2017) - FIBA Africa's Executive Committee on Tuesday awarded the two wild cards for FIBA AfroBasket 2017 to Guinea and Rwanda.

    ABIDJAN, Cote d'Ivoire (FIBA AfroBasket 2017) - FIBA Africa's Executive Committee on Tuesday awarded the two wild cards for FIBA AfroBasket 2017 to Guinea and Rwanda.

    The two teams complete the 16-team line-up for this summer's tournament due to take place in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo from August 19-30.

    Guinea will make their first appearance at FIBA AfroBasket since 1985

    Guinea and Rwanda join hosts Republic of Congo, reigning champions Nigeria, along with Angola, Cameroon, Cote d'Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Mali, Morocco, Mozambique, Senegal, Tunisia, Uganda and South Africa - who earned their places through the FIBA AfroBasket 2017 Qualifiers - in Africa's flagship event.

    The Official Draw for FIBA AfroBasket 2017 will take place later this month.
