    Mafanela says yes to marriage proposal after #FIBAACCW 2018 title

    The 29-year, who lifted the prestigious African title that eluded her in the past two consecutive finals, was proposed to by her fiancé who got down on one knee to ask for her hand in marriage in front of thousands of fans at the Maxaquene Stadium.

    Mafanela said yes much to the excitement of everyone in the arena and indeed the tears in her eyes told a story of fulfillment both on and off the court.

    The 5ft11in(1.80m) power forward averaged 10 points and 7.6 rebounds throughout the tournament and played a key role on defense to guide Ferroviario de Maputo their first ever African trophy.

    The Mozambique Vice Minister for Sports also a former basketball player Ana Flavia Azinheira that won the same trophy back in 2001 admitted that she was visibly delighted for Mafanela and her teammates.

    “I am super delighted for them and what they have achieved. I know how they feel now and this is very good news for Mozambican basketball. Now we can build on this,” she said.
