    InterClube guard McGuire ruled out of Semi-Final tie

    MAPUTO (FIBA Africa Women's Champions Cup 2018) - InterClube shooting guard Suriya McGuire has been ruled out of their Semi-Final clash against Congolese side AS Vita Club.

    MAPUTO (FIBA Africa Women's Champions Cup 2018) - InterClube shooting guard Suriya McGuire has been ruled out of their Semi-Final clash against Congolese side AS Vita Club with a sprained left ankle.

    The 27-year old, who suffered the ankle injury in their Quarter-Final tie on Friday at the Maxaquene Stadium, is undergoing treatment according to InterClube Team Doctor Jose Albuquerque.

    "SHE IS AN IMPORTANT PLAYER FOR US BUT IT IS MORE IMPORTANT THAT SHE RESTS THE INJURY TODAY AND WE HOPE THAT SHE RECOVERS AHEAD OF TOMORROW'S GAME."- Paquete

     McGuire whose defense plays a key role to the team setup has averaged 5.8 points, three rebounds and 0.8 assists so far at the tournament that her side is seeking to win a sixth record continental trophy.

    Head Coach Apolinario Paquete told FIBA.basketball that, "She is an important player for us but it is more important that she rests the injury today and we hope that she recovers ahead of tomorrow's game."

    Albuquerque revealed that he will be doing another assessment of her progress later this evening and make a full report on whether she will be available for tomorrow's game or not.

    "By the end of the day, we shall know if she will be available for tomorrow or not."

    InterClube are unbeaten so far with a 5-0 win ratio and will be hoping to maintain that when they take on AS Vita in the first Semi-Final on Saturday.
