    PRAIA (Cape Verde)- The official draw for FIBA U16 African Championship 2019 took place on Thursday July 4, in the Cape Verde capital city of Praia.

    PRAIA (Cape Verde)- The official draw for FIBA U16 African Championship 2019 took place on Thursday July 4, in the Cape Verde capital city of Praia.

    The results of the draw are as follows:
    Group A: 1. Cape Verde, 2.Egypt, 3.Nigeria, 4. Angola, 5.Algeria
    Group B: 1. Mali, 2.Cote d'Ivoire, 3.Guinea, 4.Tunisia, 5.Rwanda

    The competition is set to tip off on July 5 at the emblematic Gymnasium Vava Duarte, and it serves as a qualifier for the FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup 2020.

    The first phase in each of the two groups will consist of a tournament played in a Round-robin format.

    The top four teams from each group will advance to the Final Phase which will be played in a knockout format (Quarter-Finals, Semi-Final and Final), while the bottom two teams from each group in the Group Phase will play the Classification Games 9-10.

    The Third-Place Game and the Final will be played on the last day of the tournament (July 14).
