PHOENIX (FIBA U16 African Championship 2017)-Mali and Egypt secured their ticket for the Semi-Finals

PHOENIX (FIBA U16 African Championship 2017)-Mali and Egypt secured their tickets for the Semi-Finals at the ongoing FIBA U16 African Championship.

Both sides extend their unbeaten run after sealing their fourth straight wins against Mauritius 108-38 and Algeria 65-49 respectively.

Led by Siriman Kanoute, who posted game-high 27points, Mali have confirmed their ambitions of winning the title this year.

Meanwhile, reigning champions Egypt need not prove anything now.

Impressive, both from the physical and technical aspects, the Pharaohs are targeting their fourth continental title as well as a slot for the FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup 2018 in Argentina.

They suffered a bit against Algeria on Monday, with only a 65-49 win, enough, however, to get them through to the semis.

The remaining two spots will go to either Tunisia or Mozambique for group A,and Algeria, Madagascar or Rwanda for group B.

Tunisia, on the other side, need to clinch another two points to get out of Mozambique’s way and qualify for the Semi-Finals.

They have suffered a 61-40 loss against Mali, while taking Mozambique and Mauritius down.

Algeria, however, need to look out for Madagascar and Rwanda, who are still in race for the Final Four.

With 1-3 mark apiece, both teams need to survive to Tuesday games, where Madagascar will take on Algeria and Rwanda will defy the titleholders Egypt.
